HYPNOBIRTHING & PARENTCRAFT
Giving birth is beautiful and should absolutely be your greatest achievement, not your greatest fear and I’d love to teach you how.
Needless to say it wasn’t just a happy coincidence that I had the absolute privilege of delivering my Granddaughter, Faith (spot the scrubs!). I have been a Midwife for almost 40 years and have delivered more babies than I could ever possibly count; including my other five grandchildren whose births were all equally as special as Faith’s. I still practice as a Midwife and have worked in the community with women and their families at home for the past 17 years. Having experienced all types of births, I became a great believer in a woman’s natural strength and ability to birth a child with very little intervention or pain relief. The power a woman possesses in labour is incredible and watching expectant mothers harnessing this power by trusting and believing in their bodies and minds has always been so incredibly amazing to me. Because of this I began my training in hypnotherapy and hypnobirthing.
I am very proud to say that I am now not only an experienced Midwife, but also a Validated Hypnobirthing Practitioner with the Association of Hypnobirthing Midwives; accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
It’s important to note that although I am a practising Midwife, my role within Hello Baby is a Hypnobirthing practitioner and as such I am unable to advise you on any individual concerns relating to your pregnancy and as such I am duty bound to refer you back to your GP, Midwife or maternity unit.
I look forward to meeting you soon and helping you to welcome your very own little person into the world
what is hypnobirthing?
I recommend that you should start your workshops somewhere between the 28th and 32nd week of pregnancy. This allows you enough time to continue your practice after the workshops have finished right up until the big day. To ensure that you are completely comfortable in the session I would suggest that you bring with you a yoga or exercise mat, pillow and a birthing ball if you have them
7 -9pm in Comber
A maximum of 3 couples are permitted to attend the session to ensure each person receives the required level of attention.
Three sessions complete the course.

I AM A MUM OF THREE AND FIRST MET CAROL WHEN I WAS IN THE FINAL STAGES OF MY PREGNANCY WITH HIM
I had a complicated pregnancy with hyperemesis (extreme sickness) amongst other issues and as I have a heart defect there were concerns about the delivery of the baby . In my previous pregnancies I was able to have a water birth and really wanted this again for our third and final baby. At 37 weeks I was told I could go ahead with my natural delivery and I lived in the hope that no intervention was needed. When I met Carol at our surgery I felt immediately calm and so reassured that a natural birth was within my reach. She didn’t judge me for my breathing techniques and positive mindset. In fact she guided me and reassured me with tips on how to allow labour to take it’s course believing in myself and my body’s capability..
I am an impatient type and Carol kept encouraging me that every tightening was my baby coming, even if it was slowly!
Post birth I was delighted to have Carol as my midwife. I cried when she signed me off as I felt such a connection and help which I had never experienced in my previous pregnancies or postpartum days.
Having a soft spoken, experienced and caring midwife by my side meant the world to me as I fumbled my way through the early days of having three children in my care. For this I am forever thankful.
Such a blessing to have had Carol by my side.
The relaxation and breathing techniques you taught me during the hypnosis sessions really helped me address my fear and helped through my labour. I can’t thank you enough and highly recommend you to anyone I know! I had requested an epidural on my birth plan however due to the circumstances it wasn’t to be… I am proud of myself as to how I was able to cope and stay relatively calm throughout labour and this is all down to you Carol! I find it hard to switch off but the relaxation was amazing during and after the treatment.
I’d been listening to a hypnobirth type CD for a few weeks by the time I had my first session with Carol. I found the CD relaxing, but having Carol in the same room just took it to another level! She really took her time before the session to talk to me and figure out what would work best for me which was perfect. It was in the morning and I had more energy all day than I’d had since before I was pregnant! It was amazing.
I had a few days of pre labour before Alexander was finally born and I know the hypnobirth techniques Carol taught me helped me to stay calm, focussed and relaxed at that time. I was even able to get two fairly good nights sleeps! The labour and birth couldn’t have been more different to my first. I planned to give birth at home (as I also had first time) and laboured there comfortably for around 8 hours, with no pain relief required beyond my hypnobirth breathing. Alexander was then found to be ‘back to back’ and so I transferred to hospital, where he arrived a very short time later. I would not have coped very well with this change of plan without the strategies I had already went through with Carol. She has such a lovely calm voice and this kept coming back to me!
The end of this pregnancy and Alexander’s birth were hugely positive experiences for me and I’d urge anyone keen to have the same to consider hypnobirthing with Carol.
